HABITS

We are all creatures of habit. Without habitual responses we would have to work out a new response every time we are met with a new situation. There are good habits and there are bad habits.
We use habits for everything. We get up and brush our teeth in the morning, have a shower, get dressed, drive to work etc. These habits are termed “good habits”. They are learned over time and become ingrained in our subconscious. Have you ever got into your car and driven somewhere (ie work), and not remembered how you got there? Driving your car has been learned and has become so repetitive that it is ingrained in your subconscious, so you no longer need to think about performing all the functions needed to drive your car safely.
Unwanted habits are ingrained in our sub conscious in much the same way as good habits.
An unwanted habit begins as a coping mechanism to minimise either emotional or physical pain due to our needs not being met.
Just like a plant without water, light and soil, will soon wither and not reach its full potential so we too will not reach our full potential if our needs are not being met.
Unmet needs are likely to result in behaviours or habits.
For example, a person suffering a lack of intimacy and love, may comfort eat as a substitute for the real love that is missing in their life.
Hypnotherapy works by identifying the situation/event that caused the onset of the habit and then reprogramming the way the subconscious responds to whatever situation/event caused the habit to begin.
If you would like to let go of old habits and learn new ways of dealing with how you think and feel, give me a call to see how I can help you.
I had bitten my nails for as long as I can remember and had resorted to hiding my hands whenever I thought people might be looking at them. I can now tell you that after visiting you for one session of Hypnotherapy at Champneys Henlow I have completely stopped biting my nails and the skin around them. They look so fantastic that I have painted them and am so proud to show my hands off at every opportunity.
I cant begin to express what your help has meant to me. Anyone who is thinking of going to see Sue will be in the hands ( excuse the pun) of a very professional, intuitive and empathic therapist.
Thank you again Sue.
