Jealous people live with the overwhelming anxiety that their relationship is about to end. They will scan every word and act of their partner, just waiting to find “evidence” of infidelity. All sorts of scenarios will be played out over and over again in their mind further increasing their anxiety. In most cases, this constant hyper vigilance and obsessive behaviour is unfounded, but ultimately it can lead to the death of the relationship. The very thing they fear the most. Even when their partner begins to withdraw from the relationship, they will redouble their efforts to control their partners life and to bring them “back in line“, until eventually, the relationship dies.
Jealousy is the fear of loss or abandonment, which usually stems from being abandoned by someone they loved and needed in childhood, leaving the child hurting, frightened and powerless to do anything about it.
The jealous person will do absolutely anything to avoid experiencing that terrible hurt, fear and pain that they felt in childhood.
